hug1AMP Gallery is pleased to announce Dirty Black Summer Revisited, the first solo exhibition in Greece by Evan Gruzis.
In the summer 2005, while Gruzis was living in Los Angeles, a fellow artist dubbed the period their “Dirty Black Summer” after a song of the same name by the band Danzig.

Dirty Black Summer Revisited is a reflection on this period in Gruzis’ life, which was fueled almost entirely by tequila and various other forms of indulgence. More importantly, this group of work is a distillation of the influence of L.A. on Gruzis’ oeuvre, a pairing down of his California vocabulary to its minimal essentials that serves as a visual coda to his bodies of work from the last three years.
